More on the Climate Change Talks

Here are a couple of videos from the presentation yesterday!

There is also a link to an article written by Andrew Clarke, a parent from 5GR, for the blog InDulwich about the presentation. Check it out below!

Climate Change Talk

Yesterday morning, year 5 were very fortunate to have Dr. Hugh Hunt come in and speak to them about Climate Change, our new project topic, and answer any questions they may have. Dr. Hunt works for Cambridge University and organizes their Cambridge Climate Lecture series. All of the children really enjoyed the presentation and asked some great questions. If you are interested in more of his work, please follow this link .

Parents Evening

On Monday, children went home with parents evening slips for those who have received an allocated time slot.  Unfortunately, all my appointments are now full. If you did not receive a time and would still like to meet, please email me at to arrange a convenient time.

The schedule will be posted on the classroom door. If you have received a time and cannot make it, please let me know as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Weekly Roundup

We are almost at the end of the term so we have been really busy getting in lots of learning and activities!

This week in maths, we have finally finished our work with fractions, decimals and percentages. We have been working on finding percentages of amounts. For example, finding 25% of 80. Everyone worked really hard at it this week!

In English, we have been acting as journalists! We have been writing a newspaper article on Phillip Petit’s walk across the Twin Towers in 1973.  We will be finishing these next week! All of 5GR has been doing some excellent writing, so well done!

We are slowly but surely getting into our new project topic on Climate Change. We will be looking at at how the Earth naturally changes but how recent human developments have created some change and the impacts and our responsibilities on these changes. It will be an excellent topic with great discussions!

Today, we went on a trip to the CLC. The children practiced their coding skills and created a bunch of different shapes! We will be continuing our work with Scratch in maths next week!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and is ready for our final week of the spring term!

Today in class, 5GR got to build towers made with marshmallows and spaghetti. Their challenge was to see what table team could build the tallest tower! Check out some of the structures!
