Year Five Meeting

There will be a meeting for all year five parents on Tuesday July 4th at 6:00pm. The meeting should last an hour and is about secondary transfer and next year’s school journey to PGL.

Weaving Project

Hi all,

We have started our weaving project this week and we are in desperate need of plastic shopping bags. Year five has decided to use plastic bags as our materials for weaving as we have just finished our work on climate change and want to recycle materials that may not be useful into something beautiful.

If you have any lying around, can you please send them in with your child this week.

Thanks in advance!

Sports Day

Sports Day is taking place on Friday at the Rosendale Road Playing Field.  A reminder of the timings:

  • The Early Years and KS1 races commence at 10am,
  • KS2 children will arrive at the field for a picnic lunch at 12 noon,
  • KS2 races commence at 1pm.

Please ensure that your child comes into school in their PE kit and brings a water bottle.

A reminder that everyone is having a picnic lunch on the field.  Harrisons will provide a packed lunch to all those who normally have a school lunch.  Packed lunch children should bring their lunch as normal. I really hope that you are able to join us at the field.

Parents and carers are welcome to take their children home straight from the field however you must sign your child out with me first.

Literature Festival

During the next academic year, we will be working with Elmgreen on creating The Great North Wood Education Trust Literature Festival (think of the Hay Festival) …we are looking for Authors, Illustrators, Publishers and Story tellers who would be willing to come into school to run workshops and speak in assemblies. If you are able to help, or know someone who would like to participate in the festival please contact Sarah Tyler.

Spellings w/c June 19, 2017

In English, we have been looking at what would happen if Umbrella Corporation built a chemical testing facility in Brockwell Park. Some of these words are going to help us in our writing next week!

We had such a fabulous trip on Monday to Hillingdon Outdoor Activity Centre. Year 5 were such pleasant company and all the staff at the centre were singing their praises. We did so many fun activities from low rope walking to caving, from the big swing to a bunch of team building activities. We hope you all had fun!

Trip Info

Dear Parents

Here is a little more information about the HOAC trip next Monday 12 June. A letter went out yesterday as well.
Packed Lunch: Please ensure your child has a healthy lunch with no sweets or nuts.  Also a water bottle but no fizzy drinks or juice.
Travel: If your child is someone who suffers with travel sickness please make sure you let their teacher know and give them some travel sickness medicine in the morning. Also we are only allowing each child to bring one book with them on the coach.  This means no electronic devices and no games.
Clothing: Your child needs to have long trousers and a long sleeved t-shirt on that they don’t mind getting dirty. This is for their safety because of some of the equipment.  They do not need to wear school uniform as we will not be getting off the coach at any point on the journey.  Also can each child have a waterproof jacket, trainers as well as a sun cap and sunscreen.
